The fireplaces

Do I need a chimney or a flue?

No. Bio-ethanol burns cleanly, with no smoke and no ash, so there is no chimney, flue, gas line or building work to install. That is exactly why it fits where a traditional fire never could.

Does a bio-ethanol fire actually give off heat?

Yes. A burner gives off real, radiant heat, typically around 2 to 4 kW and considerably more on larger models, comparable to a small gas fire. The exact heat output and burn time are listed in the specifications on every product page.

Are bio-ethanol fireplaces safe?

Yes, when used as directed. Our automatic Smart Fire burners add electronic safety systems, sensors and a sealed fuel reservoir, controlled by app or remote. Manual burners are simple and safe when filled and lit correctly. As a rule, never refill a burner that is lit or still hot, and let it cool first.

What is the difference between manual and automatic (Smart Fire) burners?

Manual burners are pure and simple: fill, light and enjoy real fire, with no electronics, so they even work during a power cut. Automatic Smart Fire burners are electronically controlled, with adjustable flame heights, a sealed fuel store and app or remote control for maximum comfort and safety.

What fuel do they use, and where do I buy it?

They run on standard liquid bio-ethanol for fireplaces (96% or higher), which is widely available in the UK from DIY stores and online. You simply top up the burner as needed. We do not sell or ship fuel ourselves.

How long does one fill burn, and how much fuel does it use?

It depends on the model and the flame height you choose. As a guide, consumption is roughly 0.2 to 0.5 litres per hour, and a fill lasts several hours. Each product page lists the burner capacity and burn time so you know exactly what to expect.

Can the fireplace be built into a wall or media unit?

Yes. Many models are designed to be recessed into a wall, a media wall or custom joinery for a clean, integrated finish. We also make see-through and three-sided versions that are visible from more than one side.

Do you make custom sizes?

Yes. As the maker, we build bespoke widths, depths and finishes, from a first sketch through to delivery. If a standard size does not fit your space, see our Made to Measure page and tell us your measurements.

Buying and delivery

Delivery to the UK, are there any customs charges or duties?

No surprises. Prices are shown in pounds and include UK taxes and duties, and your fireplace is delivered to your door, duty paid. The price you see is the price you pay.

What about warranty and returns?

Every product comes with a 2-year warranty, with spare parts available for our own ranges. If something is not right, you can return it in line with our Returns and Refunds policy.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. You can spread the cost with the payment options offered at checkout, including interest-free instalments with Klarna where available. See our Pay in Instalments page for details.
